`I'm just going to get on the boat and move up and down the river. Unless of course, the zombies really can swim.

Well funny you should ask lol.
My friends and I re preppers and when we designed our survival we based it on a zombie apocalypse. This being the absolute worst case scenario. We of course included radiological, geological, and other scenarios as well but we use this plan as a core.
1) Our bug in strategy.
We have a dedicated and well trained core group, we have a secure location and enough firepower to invade Cuba. So we have a four phase bug in plan.
Phase one involves a coded alert via txt, e-mail, calls, and Ham broadcast. To all core members. If it's a complete SHTF outbreak then e first two phases are bullocks.
Phase two is a --------, deliberate exodus to the rally point, never go directly to the secured location or a flat out sprint unless absolutely necessary.
Phase three is going dark. We leave no sign that there is any activity at the secure location. We have planning and training to facilitate this that will not elaborate on. We have eyes on every approach to the property and internal and external communications. Then we wait, we have 7 months worth of food and water (our goal is one year, although we have a good sized garden and rain catches, for what good they will do in the desert).
Phase four we look up and test the wind. We should have some idea of what is going on from our Ham rig and radio comms. But when we need boots on the ground we have a verity of vehicles that we can use to venture out in small groups. Again I am being vague we don't just hop in a mini van and run o Walmart. We then start to look at long term sustainability, and what our options are.
We be have a Bugout plan as well. That one is more complicated and took us months of training to iron out so I will save that for another time.

`My plan honestly is not really a plan more of an idea. The first thing, tho might not go as planned, if to build my own house. Obviously i cant do it myself but ill have blueprints of what I would like and see what the contractor can do from there. It consists of an underground base underneath the top of my normal house, but with only one entrance from the house but having a secret escape route just in case. Of coarse before i think about any weapons, i would stalk up on mres and other foods that can last for years and water for at least a few months for a few people. I would only use blunt objects, unless needed, to fend the zombies away from my home for the first few months. After that I would start looking for survivors, I would already have a few with me but only the people i could bring in at the time. While looking for survivors, and rations, I would try to stock up on ammo for any guns i would have at that time, no need to get more guns what would be the point. The only reason we would need more guns is to either use for the shooting range so more people can learn to shoot, or if we would need them. I mean whats the point in having a million guns with no ammo. Probably after a while start taking different teams to start eradicating any and all zombies with different team leaders. Some will be the supply getters, some will be the killing squad, and some will be the protectors of the fortress. Hopefully we can build a community and live long, and possibly, zombie free lives. But that will only be within a certain area, eventually we would move from place to place trying to find more and more people and less and less zombies.
